National Museum of Natural Hystory exposition damaged... On 26 of january 2006 the cracked heating battery cause a few hours of underflood by hot water because of dozens years old equipment. Permanent local damades made of a little harm to building, exposition, collections and staff in the past. And, finally, we have got a big one! Three damaged glass cases have dismounted after samples evacuation in Zoological museum. A 33 stuffed bird of 22 species had to be saved from destruction, included 2 ostriches (nandu and emu), kiwi, tinamou, penguines, dabchicks and divers. All staff from damaged glass cases should be repared or new made. Electricity supply has to be remounted. Even more damaged the Neogen hall of Paleontologic Museum. Exposition of this hall has to be repaired. Some of them could not be even touched in a time of drying and would be lost any way. Also a few fine paintings of prehistoric life of famouse Ukrainian artists Yizhakevich and Glikman were injured by hat water and exhalation. Unfortunately, some samples are in-process of destruction, some others are in unknown condition in their local storages. Some good known samples of exposition are with injuries: skeletons of fossil rhinoceros-hiloteres, giraffe-hersonoteres, camel-paracamelus, sculls of Miocen fossil rhinoceros, giraffe-paleothragus and giraffe-somatheres, deer-cervavitus and roe-procapreolus, mastodont. Unfortunately, next destructive changes are high-probable. Staff of both museums are making their best to safe samples, but are in deep anxiety about sample and museum future.
