Biomorphological analysis rare component flora of Kodymo-Elanetsky Bug region
Characterization of morphological features complexes of rare component flora life forms, carried out under its biomorphological analysis allowed to establish mechanisms of species morphophysiological adaptation to the conditions of characteristic floristics complexes. Herbaceous polycarpic plants (49, 74.2%) dominate in the spectrum of biomorph of rare species in the region. Most of them (50; 75,7%) are characterized by monocentric biomorphs. Dominated rare species (40; 60,6%) with a fibrous root system which, in comparison with taproots (26, 39.4%), are more characteristic for forest and meadow floristic complexes. It is shown that species with a rosette and semi-rosette suckers have a wider ecological coenotic plasticity, they are more adapted to the Steppen and Granitopetrophyton floristic complexes of the region with extreme megathermal, and xerophytic, and geliophytic conditions.
Key words: biomorphological analysis, rare plants species, Kodymo-Elanetsky Bug region, Ukraine.

Geological monuments of Kiev-Kanev Dnieper bank
Geological monuments of Kiev-Kanev Dnieper bank are considered from three standpoints: as geological sites — stratotypes of Paleogene and Neogene regional stages; as historical and geological heritage — stratigraphic schemes from the very first to the existing were created on the basis of these cross-sections; as a bright evidence of the evolution of the Earth — an analysis of the cross-sections allows to reconstruct the history of the area from Eocene to Miocene inclusive.
Keywords: geological monuments, stratotypes of Paleogene and Neogene regional stages, Kiev-Kanev Dnieper bank.

Geological landmarks of the area Kanevsky dislocations (Cherkasy region) and their current status
Two objects of Cherkasy region (area of Kanev dislocation): manifestation of fold tectonics near vil. Grigorovka and Cretaceous outcrop in Holodnyi Yar ravine (outskirts of vil. Pekari) are proposed to register in “Geological landmarks of Ukraine”. These objects are described.
Keywords: geological landmarks, Grigorovka, Cool Yar ravine, outcrops, fossils.

Application of methods of geological and economic analysis at the complex estimations of geological monuments of Volyn-Podіlia
The possibilities of evaluation of geomorphological and stratigraphic geological Volyn-Podіlia monuments using techniques of geological and economic analysis are considered. In the article the evaluation criteria and indicators of geological and economic estimation of geological monuments were worked out. Place ranking of geological monuments for the selection of the most promising for further development ones was conducted. It has been defined that Verteba cave, Ozerna cave, Mlinci cave, Crystal cave, Optymistychna cave and Section of Vendian, Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian sediments in Kytaigorod village and Subochska Suite Parastratotype in Goraivka village are the objects with maximal favorable characteristics.
Keywords: geological monument, ranking, criteria, indicator, stratotype.

The influence of engineering geological processes on the condition of geological sites
The classification of geosites was developed on the basis of engineering-geological features. The main factors of formation and destruction of geosites, and the probable term of each classes of the existing geosites were determined.
Keywords: Engineering-geological factors, protection of geosites, geosites, types of geosites.

To the analysis of paleontological assembly in Geological museum
The dynamics of paleontological collections’ coming to the museum is considered; the structure of assembly from the viewpoint of authors, institutions that took part in collections’ gathering, collections’ geography, fossils’ age and their systematic composition is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the review of collections which were gathered in Ukraine.
Keywords: museum, monographic paleontological collections, museum assembly, geological collections, the Institute of Geological sciences of Ukraine.

Ivan Sakhno and development of zoology and museology in Luhansk region: historical investigations
Brief biographical outline about Dr. Ivan Sakhno (1904–1984), famous Ukrainian ecologist and mammalogist, student of V. Stanchinsky and I. Volchanetsky, who had a difficult way from educator of orphanage in his native city Lebedyn (Sumy region) to the head of the Department of Zoology in the Luhansk Pedagogical Institute (now Luhansk National University, LNU). In October 1934 Ivan Sakhno founded the first and for many years of Eastern Ukraine the only Zoological Museum and Department of Zoology, originally started as Cabinet of Zoology (1934) and finally formed as Zoological Museum and Department in March of 1938. He was the author of 34 articles and the first scientific mentor for more than 10 candidates and doctors of sciences, a famous scholar in the field of study of several important topics: 1) forming of steppe windbreaks fauna and its impact on the adjacent agroecosystem, 2) study of population dynamics and protection needs of high-ranked rare mammals of Eastern Ukraine, 3) analysis of the existence success of newly introduced species of game animals populations, 4) general analysis of long-term changes of Eastern Ukrainian mammal fauna, 5) analysis of composition and dynamics of the hunting fauna in the Luhansk region. Details on major milestones of the researcher’s life in relation to the development of ecozoological research, zoological collections and zoological education during his employment in LNU (1934 to 1969) and subsequently, after the Ivan Sakhno continued his research after retirement (1969 to 1984).
