Rybnikov S.
Summary:
The essay is devoted to the biography and scientific heritage of Valentin Abramovich Krassilov (1937–2015) — the world famous paleobotanist, paleoecologist, evolutionary biologist, and philosopher. The researcher had spent his most fruitful years in Vladivostok (Geological Institute, Institute of Biology and Pedology), Moscow (Institute of Nature Conservation, Paleontological Institute), and Haifa (Institute of Evolution). However, his personal and professional development is closely connected with Ukraine: Valentin Abramovich was born in Kyiv, and got secondary and higher education in Kharkiv. The scientist is known for his theory of angiosperms’ parallel evolution via horizontal gene transfer, for ecosystem evolution theory, and for developing metaecology (applying ecological and evolutionary patterns to social and psychological processes).
