This project is dealing with the amphibians which will be including into the new Red Data Book of the Ukraine (3rd edition). Project data are prepared based on the Zoological Museum collections from Ukraine and Russia, recent literature and personal communications of zoologists. The updated data of distribution for 8 amphibian species are based on 1803 localities from 10 oblast and Crimean Respublic of Ukraine. All species issues are provided with detailed descriptions of current taxonomic status, rarity and protection status, brief ecological reviews, information about general biology, abundance and tendencies of their changes. The role of the amphibians in stable ecosystems, practical and theoretical issues of their protection also discussed. Project is addressed to herpetologists, zoologists studied a systematics, faunistics, zoogeography, ecology, and conservation, to teachers and students of biological faculties.
