Fesenko H. V.
Summary:
А part of the proposed national genus names concerning Passeriformes of the world fauna is included in the work. More than 40 families of birds are presented, namely Eurylaimidae, Philepittidae, Pittidae, Furnariidae, Dendrocolaptidae, Thamnophilidae, Formicariidae, Conopophagidae, Rhinocryptidae, Cotingidae, Pipridae, Tyrannidae, Acanthisittidae, Atrichomithidae, Menuridae, Alaudidae, Hirundinidae, Motacillidae, Campephagidae, Pycnonotidae, Chloropseidae, Irenidae, Aegithinidae, Ptilogonatidae, Bombycillidae, Hypocoliidae, Dulidae, Cinclidae, Troglodytidae, Mimidae, Prunellidae, Turdidae, Muscicapidae, Platysteiridae, Rhipiduridae, Monarchidae, Regulidae, Polioptilidae, Cisticolidae, Sylviidae, Picathartidae, Timaliidae. The proposed list covers 683 genera among which only less than its tenth part was named in Ukrainian before. The composition of genera is consistent with the classification presented in the “Handbook of the Birds of the World”. A number of neologisms are proposed and names from several foreign languages are used for the national genus nomenclature. The national names of more than 230 bird species are entered in the article in an indirect way. They have not yet been named in Ukrainian. It is noted that native synonyms of bird names in form of noun are possible to use compounding the national genus nomenclature of non-native avifauna. The way is acceptable to name relative genera when one of them belongs to the indigenous fauna. In exeptional cases the synonyms are also used to name distant genera in taxonomy taking into account associational bird names of foreign languages.
